Seychelles
- Indian Ocean
Back
out in the Indian Ocean's strong trade winds and running seas, Fallado is making
good progress towards Africa. Another change in plans though brings us to
another unscheduled landfall. While having a radio telephone conversation with a
friend in Germany, we learn he is about to fly out to the Seychelles on
vacation. We calculate we will be sailing just underneath the islands as he
arrives so we decide to change course a few degrees and are sitting on anchor in
Mahe, the capital of the Seychelles, as he touches down at the airport. Over the
next week we enjoy exploring the main island with our friend Helmut and his family.
Unique amongst the islands lush tropical vegetation is the wonderful coco-de-mer,
its huge nuts forming in such suggestive shapes!
