French Polynesia
Tall green peaks rising out of the mist, the islands of Tahiti and the rest of the Society Islands group are the Bali Hai paradises of all our imaginations. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the Tahitian capital of Papeete, scenic Moorea is a short sail across the channel, and a world away. Cooks Bay and Oponui Bay remain legendary anchorages, their natural beauty as clear as it was at the time of Captain Cook's early voyages. Another day or so sail away, Bora Bora also captivates with its breathtaking natural beauty. With my mother aboard for a visit, we move Fallado from anchorage to anchorage, each one seemingly more beautiful than the last, as impossible as that may seem.
