Salvador, Brazil

After a pleasing 15 day passage across the Atlantic, including a couple of days in the windless doldrums, Fallado makes a landfall in Brazil. Exotic African and Latin rhythms merge in the fascinating city of Salvador. From our anchorage at the salubrious Iate Club of Bahia, we explore the city and spend a lot of time just taking in the completely "new to us" Brazilian culture, that is literally pulsating all around us. As well as restocking Fallado, we tinker with some improvements, scouring interesting shops in even more interesting back streets for various parts. Klaus and Johanna, from the German yacht Ole Hoop help us to construct a vertical antenna from a carbon fibre fishing rod, which markedly improves our ham and single sideband radio communications.
