Mindelo
- Cape Verde Islands
Leaving from the Canarian island of La Gomera, Fallado makes an early autumn crossing of the Atlantic, breaking the passage in the Cape Verde islands. A few days in Mindelo allows us to stock up on fresh produce and diesel for the rest of the passage. Our late night departure from Mindelo, after spending the evening in a smoky bar watching a world famous Cape Verdan singer Cesaria Evora, gets us off to a rocky start, but my seasickness is eventually overcome and the rest of the passage is much more fun. The guitar that Helmut purchased just as we left the Canaries is becoming his constant companion, more and more interesting sounds are emerging as he becomes reacquainted with an instrument he hasn't touched since his youth.
